Louis XV-style document holder in gilded bronze with green guilloché enamel

An elegant desktop document holder crafted from cast and chiseled bronze with a gilded finish, embellished with translucent green guilloché enamel inlays. The piece features an architectural structure typical of the Rococo Revival style (Louis XV), characterized by rich decoration with asymmetrical volutes, shell motifs (rocaille), and acanthus leaves. The sloping lid is surmounted by an openwork cornice and decorated centrally with an oval medallion framed by gilded friezes, containing a male bust in profile rendered in relief. The front and side panels display a refined contrast between the gilding of the applied elements and the green enamel background decorated with guilloché. The base is adorned with a continuous frieze featuring geometric circular motifs and displays, at the center of the front side, a mask in the shape of a female face. The body rests on four cabriole legs decorated with leaf-shaped volutes. No manufacturer’s marks, signatures, or hallmarks are visible on the analyzed exterior surfaces.
