He spent his early youth in Krakow. After leaving Poland in 1977, he took up the study of Scandinavian languages at the University of Gothenburg, followed by German studies and art history in Innsbruck. In the early 1980s, he established a long-term acquaintance with Henryk Stażewski, whose work influenced his early works in particular. In the mid-1990s, he began working with Heinz Teufel, a collector and owner of art galleries based in Cologne and later in Berlin, among other places. He has repeatedly participated in plein-air "from under the sign of geometry" in Okuninka, organized by Bożena Kowalska, and post-air exhibitions at the District Museum in Chelm. In 2015 Nowacki opened a new, spacious studio on a former industrial site in Ostrava, Lower Vítkovice. Here the artist began creating multi-element and large-format reliefs.
