Jan Marcin Szancer (b. 1902)—Polish graphic artist, illustrator of children’s books, friend and collaborator of Jan Brzechwa. He created illustrations for over 200 books, including Andersen’s Fairy Tales, Mr. Kleks’s Academy, Mr. Doremi and His Seven Daughters, Brzechwa for Children, In the Time of King Jelonek, Tuwim’s *The Locomotive*, Konopnicka’s *About the Dwarfs and the Orphan Marysia*, *Pinocchio*, and many, many others. Millions of Polish children grew up with his magical illustrations.
