Franciszek BURKIEWICZ

Graphic artist, painter and illustrator. Studied at the State School of Decorative Arts and Artistic Industry in Poznan, where he obtained a diploma in the Department of Graphic Arts under Prof. J. Wroniecki in 1935. In 1936 he moved to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he obtained a diploma under Stanislaw Ostoi-Chrostowski in 1939 and completed his diploma in the Department of Graphic Arts at this academy in 1947. After the war he took up teaching work at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Poznan. He participated in 377 exhibitions around the world, including 45 solo exhibitions, and received 40 awards and honors. His body of work includes nearly 300 prints (mainly in woodcut technique).
