10 zlotych, 1794 – Series D – watermark [D & C Blauw] – NICE

A 10 zlotych tax stamp from the Kościuszko Uprising, 1794, Series D, with a 5-digit serial number: 32196

A rarer variant, featuring a fragment of the watermark in the form of an inscription—the lower part of the auxiliary watermark of the handmade paper manufacturer, who marked his product with the watermark: D & C Blauw.

The banknote is in its natural state, with a beautifully preserved “ribbed” texture of handmade paper, and has a very attractive appearance, influenced, among other things, by the paper’s natural, cream-colored hue as well as the exceptional print quality (high-contrast printing). Visible on the banknote are the letters B S—a chemical security feature—a clearly legible dry seal, as well as the clearly visible signatures of the two commissioners, M. Pągowski and T. Staniszewski.

A nice piece, with its condition confirmed by a solid PMG grading score; there is slight discoloration in the lower right corner due to water damage—which has been noted on the slab.
