Henryk Piatkowski (Kyiv 1853 - 1932 Warsaw) - painter, writer, art critic; studied at the Warsaw Drawing Class under Rafał Hadziewicz, in the private studios of Warsaw painters, and under Alexander Wagner and Karl Piloty at the Munich Academy. In 1875 he stayed in Ukraine and Warsaw, from where he went to Paris with Jozef Chelmonski. He visited London, and in 1879 returned to the country. He lived in Ochmatov, spent a few years in Odesa, and eventually moved permanently to Warsaw, He was co-founder of the "Pro Arte" association. He painted mainly genre scenes, landscapes, portraits, religious paintings and paintings of ancient subjects. He wrote books and articles on art, including many on the work of his contemporaries.
