German sculptor associated with the artistic circles of Munich and Düsseldorf. Initially sculpting in wood, he studied at the Munich Kunstgewerbeschule from 1912 to 1926, and continued his studies with Joseph Wackerle at the Munich academy (1926-1931). He traveled to France, Belgium, Italy and Austria. He worked with the Lauchhammer Kunstguss foundry, for which he made numerous designs.
