경매품 설명

Etching; 228 x 250 mm. Engraving according to the fresco "The Creation of Eve" painted by Raphael's workshop (ca. 1517-19) in the vault of the second bay of Raphael's Loggia at the Vatican.

Marked with a Latin quotation from the Bible (Genesis 2) and an attribution of the composition to Raphael. Signed with the engraver's monogram in the lower right corner (Nagler, IV, no. 2360). Engraving from a series that was first published in Sacrae Historiae Acta a Raphael Urbin in Vaticanis xystis ad picturae miraculum expressa, Rome 1649, rebound at Pietro Mariette. Good condition.
