Interesting postcard with embossed design and gilding, unfortunately cropped on one side.
Postcard from a collection of private frontline correspondence from World War I, between a soldier and his mother and sister. Postcard with stamp and postmark, traces of being pasted into an album.
The postcards were intended as propaganda to raise the morale of young soldiers. At the same time, they were meant to give encouragement, to remind that those who stayed at home remembered, they were meant to assure the love of a beloved woman. In more than one trench they were pinned to the walls, at other times they were tucked against the heart in the pocket of the uniform.
