"In the series of paintings "Deformations" I attempt to capture the tension between matter and spirit, corporeality and metaphysics. For me, each composition is a moment of transformation - a process of formation, decay or transformation, recorded on canvas. I build forms like organic sculptures, balancing between chaos and order. I use the language of Baroque Surrealism: dramatic light, deep shadow, intense movement and richness of forms. I am interested in a figure that simultaneously resembles a marble sculpture and living tissue - matter pulsating between permanence and fragility. I am interested in the viewer communing with something almost tangible, yet symbolic and intangible. Material, light and drapery become carriers of meaning - a metaphor for history, memory and spiritual tensions. The figures that appear are not portraits, but archetypes, embodying the forces and ideas that shape the human experience. The series tells the story of a man suspended between worlds, at a moment when form is just being born and meaning remains open."
