The obverse features the Hungarian coat of arms and a circumferential inscription; the reverse features the Pogoń and a circumferential inscription. A historically intriguing coin minted by Władysław III Warneńczyk, King of Poland and Hungary and Grand Duke of Lithuania; the last of these titles— “Lythuanie princeps suppremus”—was merely a formality; the actual ruler of Lithuania from 1440 was Casimir Jagiellon. The inclusion of the Pogoń—the coat of arms of Lithuania—on this coin was also a manifestation of his authority over the country.
