Biography
Visual artist, painter, photographer, and video artist. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk (1992–1995), the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1995–1997, graduated from Prof. Stefan Gierowski’s studio), and at Tokyo University of the Arts (1998–2001, Japanese government scholarship). As part of the “platform_c” project, she organized a summer academy and symposium in Cappadocia, Turkey (2000). As part of artist-in-residence programs, she was a guest at Mont Escalioso, Italy (Oreste 2000), at the Collegium Helveticum research institute in Zurich, Switzerland (2004), and at the Kunstlerhaus Buchsenhausen in Innsbruck, Austria (2005). Her works are included in the collection of the Saatchi Gallery in London. The artist has held solo exhibitions in Rome, Berlin, London, and Basel, among other cities. Brzeżańska creates multimedia exhibitions, combining drawing, photography, video, and music. She is interested in media reality and its impact on perception; in her works, she highlights what we usually pay attention to and recontextualizes found photographs and television footage. She lives and works in Warsaw and Berlin.
