Teresa RUDOWICZ
1928 Torun - 1994 Cracow
Studied in 1948-50 at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk, then at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, which she graduated from in 1954, receiving her diploma in Czeslaw Rzepinski's studio. In November 1956, she was among the co-founders of the Cracow Group Art Association. She took part in most of the Krakow Group's exhibitions at home and abroad. In the 1950s she painted and created lithographic compositions in the spirit of informel abstraction. From the beginning of the 1960s, the most characteristic collages for her were created, sometimes compared with the parallel tendencies of matter painting and assemblages. The artist built her works with a clear aesthetic preference for the authenticity of the elements used. Her works, partly due to this authenticity, partly as a result of her painting procedures, are characterized by a noble, warm patina.
