About the Author
Piotr Kachny was born in 1978 in Kluczbork (Opole province). He graduated from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Faculty of Pedagogy and Arts in Kalisz) with a degree in Art Education in the Field of Fine Arts (diploma in painting) and from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. He works in painting, fine art photography and photomontage.
In his work, both in painting and photography, he is primarily interested in the human figure. He uses photographs of people who are often familiar to him, as well as figures from the world of film, music and entertainment in the broader sense. These figures become a pretext for building compositions. In his paintings, faces take the form of architectural structures, where geometry equals harmony. However, the most important are emotions, feelings, state of mind, character, sensuality and sexuality - what is often invisible at first glance. The artist shows what is sensual in man, which has lost contact with consciousness through the influence of culture and conventions, including education (upbringing). For this reason, his works usually feature images of women - usually young, beautiful and sensual. Sometimes the subject of his works is male-female relations, but primarily he focuses on sensuality and sexuality - taboo issues for many religious, social and political systems. The artist poses the questions: Do sexuality and sensuality exclude spirituality, or are they related to it?
Piotr Kachny's paintings are also inspired by various social attitudes and behavioral patterns. He cooperates with many galleries and auction houses in Poland and abroad, including: Gallery Store, Art In House, Desa Unicum, Galeria Next, Galleri v58, Tapper Popermajer Gallery, Brick Lane Gallery, Art of Poland, Gemini Gallery, Galeria Oranż and many others.
In the fall of 2020, he established the Omna Mah music project, which combines elements of ethnic, electronic, dark ambient, cold wave and neo classical music. Initially it was a one-man project, but over time he was joined by musicians India Czajkowska (vocals, synthesizers) and Rafal Wawrzyniak (guitar, additional sounds). Guest appearances were made by Agnieszka Marciniak (voice, recitation), Wojciech Krzemienowski (bass guitar), Joanna Gawronska Cieliszak (vocals) and Magdalena Pawlica (vocals). The band has released two albums: "Worlds No Collide" (2020) and "TaoLogy" (2021).
