Biography
Polish artist, graduate, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Prof. Halina Chrostowska and Prof. Jerzy Tchórzewski (1979). During martial law, he was active in the independent culture movement. In 1986 he was the winner of the Bronze Medal at the First International Asia-Europe Art Biennale in Ankara. After graduation, he created dynamic and symbolic paintings maintained in the spirit of New Expressionism. In 1987, he began teaching at his alma mater. Since 1997 he has also served in public service - successively as Secretary of State in the Ministry of Culture and Art in the government of Jerzy Buzek, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Argentina and Paraguay (2001-2005) and Cuba (2006), and then Secretary General of the Polish Committee for UNESCO (2007-2021). The artist has presented his paintings at more than 20 exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Among others, at the International Festival of Painting in Cagnes-sur-Mer (1987) and the exhibitions "Freshly Painted" (1988) and Well after an Artist in Marnym Time (1990) at the Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw. The artist's works are in private and museum collections in Poland, Germany, Spain, the USA, Canada, Belgium and Argentina.
