Wawel Heads - Renaissance wooden sculptures of heads adorning the ceiling of the Hall of Deputies at the Wawel Royal Castle, Cracow. The pronunciation of the ceiling is allegorical, the heads represent persons of different states, e.g. kings, soldiers, courtiers. The sculptures were created in the workshop of Sebastian Tauerbach and Hans Snycerz around 1540. The coffered ceiling of the hall originally contained 194 heads, 30 have survived to this day.
