The portrayed Thomas Le Brun is the brother of Peter Le Brun, a well-known painter of the Classical era. In 1820, Tomasz Le Brun took over "Gazeta Warszawska" published by his stepfather Antoni Leszkowski and held the position of publisher until 1831. Gazeta Warszawska was the first Warsaw newspaper published regularly over a long period, originally under the title Wiadomości Warszawskie.
