Jan Tadeusz Pamuła (b. Spytkowice, 1944)—Polish painter and printmaker, professor of fine arts, and rector of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków from 2002 to 2008.
From 1961 to 1968, he studied painting and printmaking at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. In 1967, he studied in Paris at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. In 1992, he was awarded the title of professor of fine arts. He has been professionally affiliated with his alma mater, where in 1996 he was promoted to full professor in the Department of Visual Arts. In the 1990s, he also worked at the New York Institute of Technology as a Fulbright Scholar and lectured at the Częstochowa University of Technology. From 1996 to 2002, he served as vice rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków[1]. From 2002 to 2008, he served two terms as rector of that institution.
Jan Pamuła specializes in graphic art (including computer graphics). He has held over 50 solo exhibitions in Poland and abroad and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. His works are included in the collections of institutions such as the National Museum in Warsaw, the National Museum in Kraków, the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Albertina in Vienna, and others.
He is a member of the Association of Polish Visual Artists and has curated numerous art exhibitions. In 2003, he was awarded the Witold Wojtkiewicz Prize.
In 2003, for his outstanding contributions to professional work in art education, he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
