Biography
Painter and printmaker; he also worked with artistic textiles, ceramics, and computer graphics. From 1946 to 1951, he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, earning his diploma in 1953 in the studio of Prof. Jan Cybis. In 1951, he began teaching at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and rose through all the ranks of the academic hierarchy, from assistant to full professor (1988). He served twice as dean of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He was the recipient of, among other awards, the Jan Cybis Prize (1973) and a Ford Foundation fellowship (1962). His works are held in museum and private collections in Poland and around the world.
