1948 100 zlotych banknote – GU series (without border) – DESTRUKT – the so-called “butterfly”
A striking printing defect, commonly known as the “butterfly”—due to an uneven excess of paper extending beyond the standard dimensions of the banknote. This defect occurs when individual banknotes are cut incorrectly from the sheet. Such banknotes should not enter circulation, which explains their current rarity and, consequently, the high level of interest in them among collectors.
The piece offered in this auction is an interesting variant: in the lower right-hand corner, it features excess right and bottom margins—on which printing marks are visible.
A nice piece, confirmed by a solid GDA grading note, with an EPQ annotation attesting to the exceptional quality of the paper.
