The series "Family", continued by Marta Deskur since 1999, depicts people close to her, both family-related and friends and acquaintances. The posing of the figures, their mutual relations in the painting and the props they use more or less veiledly refer to religious themes or biblical scenes. The offered work perhaps refers to Salome with the head of John the Baptist or the motif of the Veil of St. Veronica - ambiguity is inherent in the message of the series, which is not about specific iconography, but an allusive indication of the cultural community of the metaphorical "family."

Marta Deskur (born 1962 Krakow, lives in Krakow and Paris) - visual artist. She makes works in painting, photography and video art. From 1980 to 1982 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, then took up studies at the École Supérieure d'Art d'Aix-en-Provence, from which she graduated in 1988. Initially engaged in abstract painting, since the mid-1990s her work has been dominated by photography and videos, which often take the form of elaborate multimedia installations. A recurring motif in her work is children and "family" in the broadest sense. She also touches on themes of the influence of contemporary culture on interpersonal relations. She collaborates with Starmach Gallery and Le Guern Gallery.
