Château d'Yquem is an great collectors piece. Wines coming from this producer are regarded as best sweet wines produced in the world. Moreover, we are dealing with an legendary vintage which was awarded 100 points from Robert Parker and 19,5/20 points from Jancis Robinson.
Wine produced from grapes affected by botrytis (noble rot). This rot causes damage to skins of the grape causing evaporation of water which concentrates sugar and substances responsible for the taste of wine in the grape. In order to guarantee that only best grapes are used, grape piking is performed at least in 5 "rounds". During each picking only single, best grapes are taken from each cluster. This is a very labour and time consuming process. In 2015, the harvest lasted for 2 months.
This wine is characterized by an complex bouquet: ripe pineapple, green mango, orange fruit, orange tarte with some accents of lime zest, crushed stones and jasmine. Regardless of the high sugar level (144 grams per liter), great acidity causes the wine to be fresh an balanced. It has an extremely long, mineral-citrus finish.
