Marek Ałaszewski graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, receiving his diploma under the direction of Prof. Stefan Gierowski in 1974. In 1969-1971 he was a guitarist and singer in the band "Klan," one of the best Polish rock groups of the 1970s, which he co-founded. He recorded with the band on the radio, and co-authored music for the musical-ballet show "Mrowisko," first presented at the 8th Festival of Polish Song in Opole in 1970, also recorded on a CD in 1971. After the breakup of the band, Ałaszewski continued to compose, including for "Midsummer Night's Dream" for the Warsaw Operetta in 1973, and toured with the "Klan" reactivated in 1991. At the same time, he took up painting again, taking part in exhibitions after graduation, including the Festival of Polish Contemporary Painting in Szczecin in 1976. He paints post-impressionist landscapes, full of mood, whose proper "theme" is the play of light and colors.
