Joanna Zając-Slapničar, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. Diploma under Prof. Piotr C. Kowalski (2004). In 2003, scholarship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia (Faculty of Graphic Design). In 2016, she completed postgraduate studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia (direction of Video). She participates in international projects, symposiums and plein-air art events. In 2008, she was awarded for the best watercolor in the XLIII International Painting Competition in Piran (Slovenia). In 2017, 1st prize in the 2nd National Art Competition KOLAŻ - ASAMBLAŻ in Olkusz and Honorable Mention at the 1st International Watercolor Exhibition in Budapest (Hungary). In 2018 with her watercolor in the 'Top 20' at the 5th International Watercolor Biennale in Belgrade, Serbia. She has participated in the 10th and 12th Slovenian Biennial of Illustration (2012, 2016) and the 25th Biennial of Illustration in Bratislava, Slovakia (2015).
She is a member of the Union of Polish Artists (ZPAP), the Union of Artists in Ljubljana (DLUL) Illustrators section and IWS, the section of Slovenian Watercolorists. She has shown her works in exhibitions in Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Lithuania, Ukraine, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and the USA. His greatest passion and work at the same time is tapping in the broadest sense. He is involved in painting, illustration, collage, computer graphics, video, and spreading the love of art among children and adults.
"In creativity, my inspiration has always been and is everyday life, and I understand art as a commentary on the world around me. The protagonist of my works is always a person, most often women, children, relationships between people, which I constantly rediscover. Experiences and motive become a stimulus and the beginning of the search for color, which gives character to the work. Color is extremely important to me, multilayering, experimenting with techniques allow me to express emotions without being too literal, leaving room for the viewer to make their own interpretations." - Joanna Zając-Slapničar
