Lot description
A mechanical music box originating in Switzerland, probably from the second half of the 19th century.The mechanism contains a massive cylindrical drum with precisely spaced lugs that vibrate the steel slats, producing a bright and clear sound. The cabinet has a wooden body with a simple but elegant design, the inside of the lid has the original label with the name of the melody.
The inscription "ÉTOUFFOIRS EN ACIER" on the label refers to the use of steel dampers, which ensure smoother and smoother transitions between tones. The mechanism is in working order, but professional cleaning is recommended for optimal sound performance.
Inscription "MUSIQUE À EXPRESSION SOIT FORTE PIANO." means that music can be played with variable dynamics, which was an advanced feature of some game mechanics.
