[REYMONT Wladyslaw Stanislaw]. Handwritten four-page letter from Wladyslaw Stanislaw Reymont to unnamed Waclawa (his sister) and Felix (her husband) Waldau, dated. 18 I 1925 in Nice.
Double-sided manuscript on two cards form. 17.5x11.3 cm. The writer, knowing about the poor health of his sisters Wacława and Kamila, offers them a treatment in Ciechocinek and promises to cover the costs of this endeavor (one can see here the improvement in the writer's financial status after receiving the Nobel Prize at the end of the previous year). "About the refusal I do not want to hear and would consider it an insult," he says. - he adds. He himself looks to the future rather pessimistically: "despite the fact that I am much better and the doctor is making hopes of recovery, I do not believe him, I know that I will not return to my former state of health." In the final part of the letter, Reymont asks about the health and fate of family members and friends. He also writes: "I received letters asking for monetary help from a widow [...] and from her daughter [...]. I threw them in the trash, they used to be unknown to me, but now they worship me." At the end he gives his address in Nice. Letter published in the collection: W. S. Reymont "Letters to the Family" (War. 1975, pp. 415-417). Traces of folding, small tears on the fold, staining of the lower corner.
