Outremer (the Latin East, the Crusaders), Kingdom of Jerusalem, anonymous imitative besant, second half of the 12th century, Acre (Akko) mint (?)
Imitation of a dinar of the Fatimid al-Amir Abu 'Ali al-Mansur (AH 495-524/AD 1101-1130), Misr (Cairo) mint, AH 512?, Nicol 2534?
Gold, 3.89 g, 21.4 mm.
Grade: near XF, slightly worn.
In fact, only its low weight qualifies this coin as an imitation; the legends are reproduced quite faithfully. This high quality indicates an early chronology (anonymous besants were minted until the mid-13th century, when they were banned by the papal legate as bearing the name of Muhammad).
