A Pogoń variant with a sword scabbard.
A beautiful piece with an incredible visual presence, though unfortunately the background is completely worn away.
A relatively rare specimen with such superbly preserved details and excellent high relief.
Obverse: a crowned coat-of-arms shield featuring the coats of arms of the Crown and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, with the legend “
KROLESTWO POLSKIE” above it in a semicircle;
Reverse: within an oak wreath, the inscription 2/ZŁOTE/POL•; below the wreath, the initials K•G• of Karol Gronau—director of the Warsaw Mint from 1829 to 1834; along the rim, a legend separated by asterisks: “
43 43/125 Z GRZYW• CZYST• KOL• – YEAR 1831”;
