[Lviv – Mikolasch Pharmacy] – Two vials. Interwar period.
Clear glass; heights 14.5 cm and 8 cm
Two small medicine bottles, made of cast glass, bearing the inscription: “Mikolasch Pharmacy in Lviv” and a star. The history of the “Pod Złotą Gwiazdą” pharmacy dates back to 1826. It was founded by Piotr Mikolasch (1805–1873), who hired two pharmacists: Ignacy Łukaszewicz and Jan Zeh. It was in this pharmacy that scholars succeeded in distilling crude oil and invented the kerosene lamp (see item 426). Mikolasch’s pharmacy was the largest in Galicia and also one of the most modern. Minor soiling; in good condition.
