This trapezoid-shaped platter was produced at the “Włocławek” Faience Factory in Włocławek. It is decorated with a “bark” motif, a technique developed by Elżbieta Piwek Białoborska (1922–1989) that involves creating relief patterns on faience vessels. The decoration is complemented by an abstract, colorful painting.

Biography
From 1947 to 1950, she studied at the Faculty of Sculpture and Interior Design at the State Higher School of Fine Arts (PWSSP) in Poznań in the Ceramics Department led by Prof. R. Krzywiec (graduated in 1950), she continued her studies at the Faculty of Ceramics and Glass at the State Higher School of Fine Arts (PWSSP) in Wrocław (graduated in 1953, under the supervision of R. Krzywiec). She spent her entire professional life at the Faience Works in Włocławek (1953–1983). Initially, she focused on designing forms and decorations—she was the creator of, among other things, dessert sets (1957—designs nos. 183, 184, 186). She supervised the painting department and prepared decorative designs for reproduction. She developed an original decorative technique known as “bark,” which involved creating relief decorations on faience vessels.
