Third National Light Aircraft Competition. September 24 – October 6, 1930. Competition program. Course of events and results. Rules and regulations of the 1st and 2nd National Light Aircraft Competitions (K.K.A.) of the LOPP. [Warsaw] 1930. Aeroclub of the Republic of Poland, p. 171, illustrations and maps in the text, 23.5 cm, paperback.
Detailed, richly illustrated rules and program of the Third National Light Aircraft Competition. The competition, held under the patronage of the Air and Gas Defense League, took place at the airport in Pole Mokotowskie. Contents include, among other things: the Honorary Committee, the Air and Gas Defense League (L.O.P.P.) leadership, the competition’s organizing committee, a list of prizes, and the circuit flight route. In addition, it features profiles of the pilots and a list of the light aircraft participating in the competition, along with their photographs (including the DKD-III, IV, and V; the RWD-2 and 4; and the S1–S2). In the tragic years that followed, the competitors became heroes of World War II; they fought in the Polish Armed Forces in the West—including as RAF pilots—and were held as prisoners in Soviet labor camps and German concentration camps. Several of them were killed in 1940 by the NKVD in Katyn and Kharkiv. The final section includes the results and rules of the 1st and 2nd K.K.A. Minor discoloration on the cover; otherwise, in very good condition.
