An anthropological monograph constituting a comprehensive scholarly and documentary study of the unique, bourgeois Żywiec costume (the so-called “Żywiec ensemble,” originating from the town of Żywiec in southern Poland), with particular emphasis on tulle embroidery techniques. The text is supplemented by numerous illustrations depicting the techniques and ornamentation of the women’s Żywiec costume. The author, S. Matuszkówna, is a Polish researcher and ethnographer; *Zdobnictwo...* is her seminal work and principal academic achievement.
