A guide accompanied by a brief history of the Jewish quarter in Kraków and Kazimierz, written by Majer Bałaban (1877–1942), a historian, orientalist, one of the most distinguished scholars of Jewish history in Poland, and a professor at the University of Warsaw. The book is an abridged version of the previously published two-volume monograph *History of the Jews in Kraków and Kazimierz*, to which the author devoted twenty years of his life. On the reverse side of the title page, there is an extensive handwritten inscription in Latin from 1942. The cover shows discoloration; the spine is cracked; the paper is discolored in places; otherwise, the book is in good condition.
