Georges Braque (born May 13, 1882 in Argenteuil, died August 31, 1963 in Paris) - French painter, printmaker and sculptor, together with Pablo Picasso was the founder of Cubism.
He trained as a room painter, but simultaneously studied in the evening at the École des Beaux-Arts and later at other art schools in Paris. At the Académie Humbert, where he studied from 1902-04, he met Francis Picabia. He initially worked under the influence of Impressionism, then Fauvism and the art of Cézanne; in collaboration with Picasso, he developed the theory of Cubism and introduced it into his painting. He eliminated space and decomposed the subject, showing it on the plane of the canvas simultaneously from all sides, thus approaching abstraction.
One of the characteristic motifs of Braqua's painting was birds in flight.
