Biography
One of the most popular Polish cartoonists of the 1980s. He gained fame primarily through his graphic novels *Noc sprawiedliwych pięści* (Night of the Righteous Fists), “Harper’s Revenge,” and especially the series “Doman.” In addition to comics, he created illustrations and graphic designs for publishers such as the National Publishing Agency, the Youth Publishing Agency, Interpress, Orbita, and Pomorze. He published in *Dziennik Wieczorny*, *Fantastyka* (e.g., the excellent, visually polished comic “Larkis”), *Świat Młodych*, *Szpilki*, *Express Ilustrowany*, *Polityka*, *Panorama*, *Życie Warszawy*, and *Dziennik Łódzki*. Most of Nowakowski’s older comics are today considered “cult classics.” In the mid-1980s, these were the most widely read works in the science fiction and fantasy comic book genre on the Polish market.
