Watercolor, paper; dimensions: 18 x 24.5 mm; not signed. On the back, description in English. Poniatowski Grave in the Elster at Leipzig [....] i n M. Reidenbach Garden, Aug. 1830.
The work depicts a pavilion on display in the Reichenbach-Gerhard gardens (now in Leipzig) next to a memorial stone set at the site of the alleged death of Prince Joseph Poniatowski. After 1830, the pavilion (damaged during another flooding of the Elster River) was replaced by a Japanese pavilion. This part of the park was traditionally called Poniatowski-Garten.
