The painting was included in the Ministry of Culture's war loss inventory as the property of the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and its ownership title became the subject of years of litigation.
In 2015, the final judgment of the Court of Appeals was rendered in favor of the current owner, and the Ministry of Culture abandoned the initially announced cassation.
