Denomination introduced by the reform of January 11, 1924. The coin was minted pursuant to a regulation of the Minister of Finance dated December 10, 1936. Pursuant to the regulation of the President of the Republic of Poland dated August 27, 1932, these coins could be used to pay debts up to a maximum of 100 zlotych. The coin remained in circulation until November 1939.
The coin was minted in Warsaw only in 1936, with a mintage of 3,918,000 pieces. The coin was minted for two years, without a change in the date: in 1937 (2,850,000 pieces) and 1938 (1,068,000 pieces).
Obverse: a crowned eagle; the legend “RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA 1936” appears along the rim.
Reverse: a view of a ship at sea; below, the inscription “2 zlote 2”; the designer’s initials, “J-A.” Above the waves, on the right, the coat of arms of Kościesze—the mark of the State Mint in Warsaw.
